Just when I thought I was on friendly relationship with maths, there came JC math crashing down my JC years. To make things worse, the lecture aka seminar style for math lessons was a horrible idea to teach 100 students at the same time. It was a way to allow us to familiarize with university lectures but just bad, real bad. We had different lecturer for each math topic (which equates to different teaching style), and we had to fight for time to listen to the lecturer and scribbled down on the blank spaces. I would just give up and stare blankly at the big powerpoint slide in front.
It didn’t took me long to contact my previous math tutor and continued with his JC math tuition. Definitely my life saviour! Although there were only 4 H2 subjects, the workload were much more than that in secondary school. At the same time I was holding presidential post for my CCA, so I had little time to spare for each H2 subject. My weakest subject Math itself took up majority of my studying time.
However, my decision to attend JC math tuition actually provided me with more time for other subjects ironically. Why? Because I learnt and solved math questions with guidance during tuition, and provided me with the correct knowledge to solve my school homework. I need not struggle with homework alone every night and still not able to get a solution. Sometimes, I did not even do my school homework since my school teacher didn’t bother to collect and mark. Eventually, I relied upon my JC math tutor’s revision packages to tide me through my A levels.
