Math Academy has a long standing history in teaching mathematics. We began in 2001, educating students for the love of mathematics, under the name of JolynMathsHub. Despite the growth in the number of students, which largely stems from student/parent recommendations, we have always maintained our small class size. We try hard, together with the kids, to do what is possible for them.

Hear about their success stories from the list of student/parent testimonials below.

Thank you mr Ang, you have been an amazing math tutor. I was a U-grader when I first joined math academy. Through your throughly planned out and clearly explained lessons, I was able to make visibly great improvement. Thank you for also being patient, caring and constantly asking how’s students progress in school throughout the year. You have maximised my potential and given me a lot of confidence to excel in it.

Joel Leong - Jurong Jc, 2017

By the end of my third year, I was getting worried. Being barely able to scrape past both mathematics is definitely not the scores I wanted. Besides, it is every student’s dream for a full set of distinctions. This was when I joined Math Academy.

My first lesson was certainly the most memorable one. Having barely a clue about much topics taught in class, Miss Ang sprang into action. “Differentiation: Power bring down, power minus one, differentiate the base” was a common heard phrase in class. Such teaching methods allowed me to remember crucial mathematical applications and prevent detrimental mind blanks during classwork, assignments and most importantly, exams. Such concepts are so firmly rooted in me that I still hear Miss Ang’s voice in my head each time I do calculus related questions.

However, if you learn conceptually and hate memory work, do not fret! Miss Ang will definitely clarify all your doubts regarding any mathematic topic. Not sure why the gradient of a normal is the negative reciprocal of the gradient of a line? Miss Ang will use a wide variety of methods, from detailed explanation with graphs, to algebraic formulae manipulation. Every student will surely learn in Miss Ang’s active teaching classes.

Regardless of who you are, your learning style or preferences, Math Academy is undoubtedly the best place to improve your grades. Lessons here not only allow me to catch up or go ahead of school class, but also reaffirm my existing concepts. Being able to shoot up from near fails to both distinctions for my A and E math, I am certain that Math Academy is the right place for you !

Colin Tan - School of Science and Technology '2016

I love how complex mathematical concepts are simplified here in Math Academy! The lessons were easy to understand, and Mr. Ang will teach us how to break down the questions so that we learn how to strategize to solve different types of mathematical problems. Mr. Ang is also very friendly and approachable, and he offers to spend extra time with us to solve any questions we might have outside of class. H2 mathematics became fun under his teaching.

Mok Yue Min - Hwa Chong Institution '16

Mr Ang is a very dedicated and patient teacher. He is very willing to spend time outside of class to help his students to clarify their doubts and will always try to explain solutions from different perspectives if his students do not understand. Mr Ang’s notes are very concise and organised, thus making revision alot easier. Despite only joining in JC2, Mr Ang has helped me improved my math tremendously. Thank you Mr Ang!

Mr Ang’s classes serves as a good recap to the topics taught in school. His lessons are straight to the point and he always makes an effort to clarify any doubts that we may have while walking around to check on us one by one. As a private candidate who retook my A levels, I found his notes and the maths practices that he compiled especially helpful. They pointed out the different types of qns and the things that we should look out for in that particular topic, allowing me to use my time more effectively.

I’m really grateful to Mr Ang for his guidance and encouragement throughout the past year while i prepped for my A levels! Thank you Mr Ang! 😀

Mr Ian Ang is a great teacher who constantly ensures that I understand his lessons. He never fails to answer various questions from school assignments or from his own practices. He is a dedicated teacher who gives little tips on how to score better and to not make careless mistakes. Under his guidance, I grew to love Maths as a subject and strived to work harder in Maths. Thank you for being such a great teacher!

Amanda Lim - National JC '16

I got an A for H2 Math! Thank you for the help you’ve given me answering all my questions, and also the

very useful summarised notes and practices especially in vectors and complex numbers.Even though I only joined for a few weeks, it was really helpful for me to make my understanding more solid and have more revision. Thanks so much 🙂Isabel - Raffles Institution '16

I joined classes in j2 and for every class I have always learnt something new.

The summary notes given have helped me a lot as all the formulas and different types of questions you “must know” are written out clearly!

Mr Ang is also extremely patient and never fails to answer my doubts during class and I was able to do well due to all the extra questions and papers that he gave me and marked and went through with me!

Thank you Mr Ang! 🙂

During the first semester of my secondary three, I have been getting F9s for my amaths so I sought for tuition centers that can help me

I found the math academy online recommended by online reviewers and decided to give it a go. Surprisingly, after my tuition teacher patience and helpful lessons, my amaths showed a tremendous jump to A1 in my 2nd common test in my secondary three. My amaths from then on have constantly been scoring As and have scored A1 in my O levels. I’m very grateful to my tuition teacher, Ms Jolyn for her patience and passion to teach. She never failed to answer any of my math question no matter how simple it was.

Therefore, I sincerely thank the math academy and my tuition teacher who have tremendously helped me in achieving my A1 in my Amaths in O levels.

Ms Jolyn always takes a proactive approach to giving feedback regarding my son’s progress in class. My son has shown tremendous improvement and produced stellar results at O levels! Ms Jolyn made it possible!! Thank you very much for all your guidance!

Leana Lee (Parent of Joshuea Gan)

I had been scoring Bs and Cs for Maths and A Maths since Sec 3. But after attending Ms Jolyn’s classes, I have managed to score A1 for both Maths at O levels. Ms Jolyn is patient and would always take the time to explain concepts clearly. Thank you very much, Ms Jolyn!

Joshuea Gan Anglo-Chinese School Barker

Under Ms Jolyn ‘s lessons, my foundation in Additional Mathematics has tremendously improved. With the help of straightforward notes and detailed explanation to each problem, we are able to build a strong foundation in each topic. Her lessons are always efficient and effective, and have helped me improve from barely passing to an A1 in my O’ Levels!

Alani Kethireddy - Anderson Secondary School

Ms Jolyn has helped me significantly improve my Amath results!

Every lesson was extremely fruitful as notes and worksheets are provided. This aids in summarising the lesson and ensuring that everything taught retains. Ms Jolyn successfully covers at least a topic in each lesson, which enabled me to be ahead of the class in school.

Ms Jolyn has a calm and logical method of teaching which made understanding easy. She also shares effective strategies which helped me cope with more complex questions. Her lessons were interesting and enlightening. Additionally, her coaching on how to apply different methods when approaching different types of math questions were invaluable. After teaching us the appropriate techniques to tackle questions of a particular topic, she allocates time for us to complete questions she had prepared previously. During this time, should any doubts on solving the math questions appear, Ms Jolyn would help break it down and clear my doubts. She also makes sure that should I face similar questions in the future, I would be able to solve it on my own.

She helped me improved my grades drastically from F9 in Secondary 3 to A1 in “O” levels. For that, I am immensely thankful for her guidance.

Goh Ee Raye - Hua Yi Secondary

The math tuition allowed me to grasp math concepts quickly and it exposed me to different types of questions which were useful in helping me approach school homework and exam questions.

When I first joined Math Academy, I was falling behind in my A-math, feeling desperate for help. After attending teacher Jolyn’s class, math concepts became easier to understand with her concise notes and patient guidance. She was encouraging and never hesitates to answer my questions outside lessons.

With her help, I managed to score As for my maths and I’m thankful that I have attended her lessons!

Chelsea Low - Crescent Girls’ School

I am very, very grateful towards my amaths tuition teacher, Ms Jolyn Ang, and her teachings. The way she taught was clear and it made me understand amaths concepts more easily. The notes and practices that I had were very helpful as well. Besides, whenever I had difficulty with amaths, Ms Jolyn Ang always helped me patiently.

From F9 in sec3 year-end exams to scoring A1s in o level amaths ( and emaths ), Math academy has shown that it is possible to do well even when I have failed the subject badly before. Thank you so much!

Aw Jin Xuan - Swiss Cottage Secondary

I started having tuition lessons at Math Academy since I was in secondary one as I was not very good in math in primary school.

At math academy, I was tutored mainly by Mr Ang. Mr Ang is very clear in his teaching. At the start of a every new topic, he would be patient to go through a variety of questions together with his students. He breaks down the most difficult questions for us and shows us a step by step way of approaching them in future. He would always clear my doubts whenever he sees me struggling with questions.

He is also open for his students to ask him questions during or outside tuition. There was an instance when I was in doubt of a certain topic just weeks before an exam, Mr Ang did not hesitate to print me more notes on the topic when I asked for help.

With the help of Mr Ang, I was able to maintain an A1 or an A2 for E.math in secondary 1 and secondary 2 and also in A.math when I was in secondary 3 and secondary 4. I scored an A2 for A.math at the O’ levels. Without Math Academy, I would not be where I am today.

Joe Goh - Chua Chu Kang Secondary School

I joined MathAcademy in J2 after the June Holidays. Although it may seem “too late” for most students, don’t fret! The small class size and detailed explanations (lessons, fully worked solutions and exam notes) make it super easy for many to focus. Furthermore, Mr Ang’s constant encouragements helped build my confidence which motivates me to work hard for future tests 🙂 Thank you Mr Ang! If you need help in math, come join Math Academy now!

Yu Jun - Nanyang JC

Ms Jolyn is a teacher who has never hesitate to clear all my doubts during A-math tuition classes. She is a very encouraging teacher who believes in her students. Her tactic in teaching makes me understand the topics much better, all her notes are very concise which makes it easy to refer even before the start of o levels. The practice questions are also picked very carefully and are usually from past UCLES and other school papers. She will follow closely based on the O level standards. I am very grateful to have such a great teacher who helped me to achieve a grade of b3 when i have been consistently failing badly(usually a F9) even when i was taking prelims. Therefore, I feel that attending this tuition class is totally worth it.:)

Koh Ruiyi - Shu Qun Secondary
