About the Centre
A Maths Tuition Centre Built Differently
Family-run and founded by NUS Mathematics graduates, Math Academy specialises exclusively in Secondary and JC H2 Maths — with small classes, in-house materials, and tutors who are personally invested in every student.
The three of us grew up doing Maths together. We went to NUS for it. We built Math Academy around it. When your child sits in one of our classes, they’re not taught by someone we hired — they’re taught by us.
We keep classes small because we’ve seen what happens when they aren’t. We won’t compromise on that. It’s the one thing we’ve never changed.
Founded
Over a decade helping Secondary and JC students improve their Maths results at O and A Levels.
Class Size
Maximum 9 students for Upper Sec and JC. Maximum 7 for Lower Sec. Never more.
Subjects
Mathematics only. E Maths, A Maths, and JC H2 Maths. We don’t teach anything else.
Tutors
Three specialist tutors — all NUS Mathematics graduates. One is a former MOE school teacher.
What Makes Math Academy Different
Four things that shape how we teach — and why they matter for your child.
Who Designs the Curriculum
The Secondary curriculum — E Maths and A Maths — is designed by Ms Jolyn Ang, a former MOE school teacher with years of experience setting and marking national examination papers. The JC H2 Maths curriculum is led by Mr Ian Ang, an NUS First Class Honours graduate in Pure Mathematics.
Because our tutors understand exactly how marks are awarded, students are trained not just to solve problems — but to present working in the precise way that earns full credit.
Why We Keep Classes Small
Small group tuition means every student can ask questions without hesitation — and every tutor can spot when someone is struggling before it becomes a problem. We cap classes at 7 for Lower Secondary and 9 for Upper Secondary and JC.
We also keep parents informed. If we notice a student’s performance slipping, we reach out directly. We believe the best results come when tutors and parents work together.
How Homework Works Here
Every homework question is hand-selected — not pulled from a generic question bank. Each question earns its place because our experience tells us it will genuinely benefit the student. Questions are reviewed and updated annually to reflect the current examination climate.
JC students receive fully worked model answers for all homework. This trains them to understand exactly what a complete, credit-worthy solution looks like — and builds the mathematical maturity needed for A Level.
Our Teaching Methodology
For Secondary classes, homework is collected at the start of each lesson. New chapters begin with instruction, followed by in-class practice, and end with a review of marked work — individual mistakes addressed on the spot.
For JC H2 Maths, students work from model answers and curated notes compiled from prelim papers across top schools. The goal is mathematical maturity — the ability to handle any question type with structure and confidence.
Our Classroom
Designed with students in mind — individual tables, clean layout, and a space that makes it easier to focus.
