Secondary 3 and 4 · Additional Mathematics
Sec 3 and Sec 4 A Maths Tuition Classes in Singapore
Small-group A Maths tuition for Sec 3 and Sec 4 students. Taught by Ms Jolyn Ang — NUS Mathematics graduate, ex-MOE teacher, over 20 years of experience.
Math Academy runs weekly Sec 3 and Sec 4 A Maths tuition classes in Singapore, built for students who want to close that gap and walk into the O Levels confident. A Maths is widely regarded as one of the toughest O Level subjects and for many Sec 3 students, it is where grades drop one or two bands after a confident lower secondary start. Classes are capped at 9 students, every worksheet is personally marked, and Ms Jolyn Ang, ex-MOE teacher and co-founder.

Watch a Real A Maths Lesson Before You Decide
These are actual class recordings — not promotional videos. You will see Ms Jolyn’s note structure, how she breaks down each question type step by step, and how student doubts are handled in real time. Ms Jolyn has created step-by-step video solutions for every weekly worksheet — over 2000+ videos in total — so students never have to wait till the next lesson to have their questions addressed.
A Maths Tuition Built on Marker’s Report and Paper-Setting Experience
Most A Maths tuition focuses on getting the answer. Ms Jolyn focuses on getting the marks. After years of setting examination papers at MOE and analysing every annual O-Level Marker’s Report, she knows exactly where students lose marks — wrong keyword interpretation, missing working, careless presentation — and how Cambridge markers award them.
Exam Strategy
Every Question Type Taught. Every Method Covered. Nothing Left to Chance.
Each of the 16 A Maths topics is broken into 3 to 4 key focus areas, with examination techniques summarised across every common question style. Students walk into the O Levels knowing that every question revolves around the formulas and steps already covered in class — and crucially, they know how to write working that scores full marks, not just working that gets to the right answer.
“From multiple F9s in Math to A1 in both Math and A Math at O Levels. Math Academy has played a huge role in helping me achieve good grades.”

Frequently Asked Questions — Sec 3 and Sec 4 A Maths Tuition
If your child is aiming for JC and plans to take H2 Mathematics, science streams in polytechnic, or any engineering or business-related course at university — A Maths is strongly recommended. A distinction in A Maths significantly improves the L1R5 score for JC admission, and the topics covered (calculus, trigonometric identities, logarithms) are direct prerequisites for H2 Math. Students who skip A Maths often struggle in JC1 Math.
E Math (syllabus 4052) is compulsory for all O-Level students and covers algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics, and probability. A Math (syllabus 4049) is an elective taken from Sec 3 onwards by stronger G3 students. It dives much deeper — calculus (differentiation and integration), logarithms, surds, trigonometric identities, and advanced algebra. A Math builds directly on E Math, so a weak E Math foundation usually means a struggle in A Math. Math Academy offers both A Maths and E Maths tuition.
Yes — IP students benefit just as much. While IP students skip the O Levels, the Sec 3 and Sec 4 A Maths content is still examinable in their school exams, and most IP schools cover similar topics with added depth and pace. Math Academy’s A Maths classes are open to both G3 and IP students, and the in-house notes are pitched to handle the higher-order thinking questions IP schools tend to set. Many of our IP students come from River Valley High, Cedar Girls, and Singapore Chinese Girls School.
Starting at the beginning of Sec 3 is ideal. A Maths introduces several new concepts in the first few months — partial fractions, indices and surds, polynomials — that form the foundation for everything that follows. Students who fall behind in this stretch often spend the rest of Sec 3 and Sec 4 trying to catch up. Math Academy runs Sec 3 headstart lessons in late Sec 2 or early Sec 3 to give students a smooth introduction. That said, students can join at any point in Sec 3 or Sec 4 — Ms Jolyn has helped students improve significantly even when joining months before the O Levels.
Yes. The MOE A Maths syllabus is the same backbone for both G3 and IP students — the difference is in the depth and difficulty of questions. Ms Jolyn’s notes cover all 16 topics with bite-sized concept teaching, and her worksheets include the higher-order thinking questions IP schools tend to set. In a class of 9, she calibrates support to each student’s school and ability level.
Yes — students can join at any point in the year. The earlier the better, but students have successfully caught up even after joining late in Sec 4. New students get access to recorded lessons and video solutions for earlier topics so they can self-pace through what they missed.
