What to learn from past year O levels paper

The importance of success in additional maths is paramount; it goes without saying that there is a need to secure a good grade in this keystone subject. There is no shortage of potential learning and revision techniques at a student’s disposal, all of which – as you will be assured – are supposedly ‘guaranteed’ to get you that top grade.

But there is no technique more tried and tested than the use of past papers supplemented by private “a maths tuition” by someone who knows the subject inside-out, as well as all the tips and tricks of how to get ahead of the examiners.

Often, succeeding in exams can in many subjects be more about knowing the method to answering the questions rather than knowing any actual facts. As you should be told by anyone giving you “a maths tuition”, examiners will often have a checklist of things to spot, allowing them to assign you marks. Any individual giving you “a maths tuition” who is worth his salt will help you understand the importance of using past papers to familiarise yourself with what examiners are looking for. This will help you score those elusive marks that sometimes even the best candidates will miss.

“A maths tuition” will also be administered by someone who has catered their lessons towards your needs. While teachers at school can be tasked with up to 30 students, a tutor offering “a maths tuition” can focus completely on the areas of maths with which you struggle; sometimes, all that’s needed is the concentrated and sympathetic support that can be offered by a tutor. Indeed, by undergoing “a maths tuition”, you will be shown new ways to approach maths problems, methods which your regular teacher may have overlooked.

People’s brains work in different ways, and the new methods introduced to you by someone giving you “a maths tuition” will not only be a refreshing change from the monotony of school lessons, but also can prove to be a method with which your brain can identify and work, helping you to succeed in your exams.

Furthermore, success in a subject can also stem from enthusiasm or passion for learning all about it. Lessons at school – particularly in schools driven completely towards ensuring their pupils succeed in exams – can take away the stimulating sides of a subject, focusing entirely on passing exams rather than nurturing their student’s intellectual interest. Teachers’ very jobs depend on the success of their students in exams, which can often make studying with them a chore. In contrast, tutors offering “a maths tuition” are people who love their subject and want you to love it too. While they also want you to succeed in exams, they also want you to take something extra away from their lessons; be in no doubt that engaging in “a maths tuition” will make learning maths fun again.
