Math Academy pride ourselves in providing small group tuition (max 7 for lower sec and 9 for upper sec and JC) and our comprehensive copyrighted notes. Run and taught by the family of 3 siblings, Jolyn, Raine and Ian Ang, we are committed in handling the classes on our own and do not engage any other teachers. Our patience and commitment provide the difference that our students appreciate. Math Academy was previously renamed from JolynMathsHub, established since 2001.
Who devised the curriculum?
A Maths tuition and E Maths Tuition curriculum at the centre is devised by Teacher Jolyn, an ex-MOE teacher, with years of experience in teaching and setting examination questions, especially in A Maths, E Maths. Heading the H2 math tuition (JC) curriculum at the centre is Teacher Ian, an NUS first class honours graduate with years of experience in solving JC mathematics. With our knowledge in the marking scheme, students will be well prepared on the answering techniques to present the answers and essential working to get full credit.
Why small group tuition?
Our tuition centre provides small group tuition, in particular, h2 math tuition (JC) and A maths tuition, which allows us to pay close attention to every student. Students tend to feel more comfortable in voicing out their doubts in a small class (max 6 for lower sec and 8 for upper sec). We notify parents as soon as we notice that the student’s performance is deteriorating. We believe that we can help the student if we can work hand in hand with the parents. We understand that secondary and JC Mathematics requires constant guidance from the teachers, we want to be there to help you and your child.
What makes our homework different from other centres?
Everyone knows that Mathematics is about practice. But we understand that students these days may not spend sufficient time on practice due to their busy schedule. At our tuition centre, our carefully selected pool of questions in H2 math tuition (JC) and A maths tuition as homework addresses this problem. Every single question was well thought through, and was selected only if our experience tells us that it would benefit the student. We also update our questions annually to keep them updated. Our experience and expertise in the subject make the difference.
What is the teaching methodology that we adopt?
For secondary group classes, we collect homework at the start of each lesson. Short tests are given if a chapter has just concluded. We subsequently teach the materials for that day, followed by practice questions to be done in class. We end off by going through the marked assignments and individually review their mistakes. Students will bring home selected questions to be completed and submitted by the next lesson.
H2 math tuition (JC) students learn and adopt through a different approach. Fully worked out homework solutions are given. This helps the students understand the NECESSARY DETAILS to write in an examination answer. The important questions and tips on what to look out for are also explained in class. We want JC students to adopt and learn through model and standard answers. This hones and trains their mathematical maturity, equipping them with the essential skillset to perform to any type of question. Math Academy provides its own unique set of JC notes that comprises of summarized formulae and questions from prelim papers of schools. This exposes them well to the curriculum.
A Maths, E Maths and JC H2 Maths is about practice and our tuition will ensure that the student receives sufficient training.
How do we help your child score?
At Math Academy tuition centre, we teach and summarize the important concepts that are involved in each chapter. By exposing them to a pool of carefully selected questions, this ensures that the student is well prepared for the examination. Nearer examination period, we give out school papers and ensure that they get the required timed practice.
The teachers at the tuition centre have years of experience in helping students excel in O levels and A levels maths. H2 math tuition, A maths tuition, E math and lower sec maths are our forte. We have devised our own set of comprehensive notes and solutions comprising of different levels of difficulty, compiled from school examination papers as well as cambridge examinations. This increases the exposure to a variety of questions as well as to meet the needs of diverse learners. We update and review our notes on a regular basis and ensure that they are up-to-date with MOE’s syllabus.
